“Diplomatic Language”
2018
49 x 17 x 18 inches
Plaster, paper clay, aqua resin, and ping pong balls
Two pearls pearl-like suggests a precious yet unattainable moment, as the “pearls” rest vaguely threatening within the clam-like opening. This sculpture is an expression of trying to select words carefully to avoid unfavorable interpretation. The spheres can also be interpreted like rounded teeth embodying a numb sensation. The guttural form sits atop pristine domed architectural base emphasizing the tension.
