“Fruit Netting”
2018
14 x 26 x 3 inches
Cast silicone and wood
The form is derived from foam wrappers that litter the sidewalks outside supermarkets in Flushing, Queens (where I grew up). They protect easily perishable items that travel long distances. Hung on a wall it becomes a rectangular portal. This sculpture is a meditation on the idea that products travel more easily than people.
